A little Indian brave who before he was ten
Played war games in the woods with his Indian friends
And he built a dream that when he grew up
He would be a fierce warrior Indian chief. —

How high can the highest of Emperors be?
An Emperor of the sky, none higher in this world.
The Universe is for Gods, those who have shed their mortal coils.
To rule the land from the most elevated position, the clouds.

The ultimate vision, a sky Emperor.

“Excited, passionate, fantastical Imagination, nor an ear and an…

The tale of an Irish highwayman

Moving on from drinking pints of coke
to very occasional beers, a body not used to excess
eating that virginal piece of hashish,
laughing through wariness head on me pillow
trying to force sleep; vivid images come through
of a highwayman, was I a highwayman in a past life?

Immortalised in songs romanticised in a movie,
Willie Brennan an Irish Highwayman
caught and hanged in Cork at the turn 1800s.

The Ballard “Brennan on the Moor” keeping his memory alive.

Robbing the rich to help the poor in classic highwayman style, feared by the noble lauded by the poor Willie…

Delusional free verse

The father of vaccines; the father, of vaccines?

An abusive father who beat his kids
washed them in bleach
confiscated their toys, storing them
out of reach in clear eyesight
further punishing the children
out of ill will and spite.

He invites his friends round to gloat
who even reach for the toys teasing the children
as they reach out with grateful hands
hope in their eyes they may just get
what was promised to them before abusive dad
took away what was gifted by others.

Delusional father tries his best to blame the kids along with their friends for…

A noodle response

Kao Soi was introduced to Northern Thailand,
via Laos and Myanmar by Chinese migrants
after fleeing oppression in Yunnan, South China
during the mid-1940s.

Kao Soi is a popular street dish you will never forget
and probably hanker for on the return home after a mega holiday
in Thailand, the Thai version is promoted here,
well, it would be now; I live and eat Kao Soi there.

Thailand’s Kao Soi is a delightful palette dancing curry soupy noodle dish,
no exaggeration!

Pickled mustard greens, shallots, lime, chillies, lots of garlic, (of course), and your choice of meat, or not, fried…

Free verse poetry

Rainbow warrior and Beluga, names to remember
names to support, Greenpeace ships
trawling the oceans around the world
ridding them of human disregard, those corporate plastics.

Toxic wastelands in rivers, seas and oceans around
this beautiful world marred by humankind demand,
where does this name mankind come from?
Not very kind to the seas or the many creatures living there!

Corporations increasing plastic production while recycling tiny amounts;
add to this trawler fishing, it’s up to us to cut the demand for supply.

Stop support for mass killings of unwanted dolphins, sharks and turtles to name but a few, thrown…

Free verse poetry no money in tourist low season

Photo by Sarah Lachise on Unsplash

Night after night when all is tight
there’s no tourist money around;
local lads squabble local lads brawl,
then go bash down a foreigners door.

Swing a baseball bat give them a laugh
down the end of their mocking barrel;
hands now shaking up in the air
as fear for the family takes hold.

You let them have it all
then they let you have it
as you pick yourself up
off the bloody floor.

The neighbours are cowering,
will they be next,
or did you give enough up
to feed the lads tonight?

There’s always tomorrow or the following…
