To walk in the surf,
Warm water lapping over my feet
Washing away
Any stress or strains
I may have garnered
From earlier in the day.

The feeling the sea gives me
Is one of grateful privilege
To be taken for granted
At not one single moment
Of my gifted walk,
The honour is mine.

To find myself here in this exotic land,
Each step upon the soft wet sand,
Building up the sense of
Joy and heartfelt gratitude.

As I look ahead toward
The jungle backdrop
Now joining my surrounding
Adding to the joy I feel
Encased within this tropical paradise,
Enhanced by the memories
Living and travelling in the city
Crammed with people
Living on top of each other
Squeezed together into
Stifling metal tubes
To get to where we have to be
Entrapped within Polluted air
Full of infectious bacterium
Gives a sense of worth
To make us feel alive.

For a moment I was lost in these
Godforsaken memories
As reality brings me back.
With a deep sigh and the
Sense of relief, a life now past
As I continue to walk in this beautiful surf
Inducing a more profound sense of joy.
